Associate Professor Brian Miller
is a general
surgeon and lecturer in the University of Queensland

the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. His special academic
interests
are in colorectal surgery, trauma management and teaching.
He was raised in Kenya, obtained his medical degree
at King's College Hospital in London and was a surgical
resident and staff surgeon in Canada
before migrating to Australia in 1988.
Dr Miller's designs include:
-
Miller's Visceral Retainer, a silastic, flexible,
radiopaque, re-sterilisable visceral retainer.
-
"The Little Red
Book"
, a surgical teaching tool which started 32 years
ago as a compilation of his own notes in preparation for the surgical
fellowship examination and is now sold worldwide. The similarity
of the lists to common topics in oral tests is apparent.
